I find his life story very sad. I do feel sympathy for him, although we all have choices in the manner in which we live our lives and his choices were certainly not healthy. He came to a very sad end.Cleohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13152128642971612433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-3471071194679451292017-04-19T15:10:12.740-07:002017-04-19T15:10:12.740-07:00Oh, thanks for the title btw.Oh, thanks for the title btw.Sharon Wilfonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466621290140789056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-71054186515215976352017-04-19T15:09:40.050-07:002017-04-19T15:09:40.050-07:00Hi Cleo. This essay sounds so interesting.
I must disagree with his statement that Toulouse-Latrec did not portray women sexually. I mean most of the women he painted were prostitutes or in the Burlesque; that's rather in a sexual context, at least in my opinion.Sharon Wilfonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466621290140789056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-38830939250030599222017-04-18T10:34:56.749-07:002017-04-18T10:34:56.749-07:00Thanks! I will take issue with his indictment of Greek and Latin. Latin teaches one to think logically and Greek is quite beautiful. But perhaps the manner in which he was taught was painful. I do think that we teach children things without explaining the benefit of those things. I do find myself agreeing vehemently on education killing creativity! This still continues to happen and the more "technology savy" we get, the more creativity dies; though there is a inherent contradiction here, because all this technological advancements are also the offspring of some creative process. Ok...I will stop my ramble now!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-86816201023337848312017-04-17T22:03:42.922-07:002017-04-17T22:03:42.922-07:00Yes, I'm glad you pointed out his educational ...Yes, I'm glad you pointed out his educational interest. I was puzzled as to why his Brave New World seemed like a cautionary tale against a type of controlled social utopia, yet in this essay he appears to promote a controlled social education (provided we can find the answer as to why teachers kill creativity). It's as if he contradicts himself.

It was an interesting essay to read ..... a little all over the place but not at all hard to follow.Cleohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13152128642971612433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-33712825347969706622017-04-17T21:43:17.025-07:002017-04-17T21:43:17.025-07:00a totally fascinating post! it reminded me of day...a totally fascinating post! it reminded me of days long gone when i read quite a bit of Huxley, him being somewhat on the extreme left and therefore attractive to young revolutionary types; not that i was that, but still...
