The "wolves" is rather cliched! But many I again agree with you would actually quite enjoy the novel. Its kind of an anticlimax ending to your long wait!Hang in there, there will be a better book soon!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-9854386608605485342017-02-09T09:35:50.689-08:002017-02-09T09:35:50.689-08:00Hmmm ..... thanks for the background. Perhaps I should continue on with the series, however the background as of yet, hasn't been communicated by the author so one wonders how one can appreciate it .....?? It was rather interesting that Aiken made the children so dense in many instances to increase suspense; in modern novels I'm so used to the children knowing everything or at least much more than the adults, that this tact sort of threw me.

P.S. I just put a hold on the second book. Usually though, even if I don't enjoy a book as much as an adult, I can pick out items that I understand would have appealed to me as a child. However, with this one, I don't think I would have been over the moon about it. One never knows though. Do you still read children's book now and then, Mudpuddle?Cleohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13152128642971612433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495382709151625398.post-49695627290138334292017-02-08T13:26:55.776-08:002017-02-08T13:26:55.776-08:00All the Wolves Chronicles books are highly, highly...All the Wolves Chronicles books are highly, highly improbable, set in an alternate history Britain where James III (Jamie Three) is on the throne and the dastardly Hanoverians concoct ever-weirder plots against him. Adults are usually extravagantly criminal and/or careless of children, who have to manage on their own. If Roald Dahl had written historical fiction... I love them, but I guess you do have to agree to the oddball terms in order to do so.
